The Lake Maggiore is one of the greenest lakes in Italy and is surrounded by many natural parks. This includes the National Park Val Grande, which is the largest national park in Italy.

Cannero Riviera and the Lake Maggiore region are very well suited as a starting point for hiking and mountain biking. Alternatively one can explore the lake and its shores by ferry. The ferry connects with several small villages along the lake including Luino, Cannobio, Locarno, Verbania and Stresa. If you fancy a swim in the lake, you can access the lake via a direct pedestrian path from the garden of Villa Paradiso.

Within the radius of a few kilometers are many historical villages such as Cannobio, Ghiffa and Oggebbio. Further north, the cities of Locarno, (famous for the Film Festival in August), and Ascona, (known for it’s Jazz Festival in June / July) are among the cultural highlights of the region.

South of Cannero Riviera lies Stresa, once a small fishing village and the starting point for trips to the Borromean Islands Isola Bella, Isola Pescatori and Isola Madre.

Other notable lakes such as Lake Mergozza and Lake Orta are within a one hour drive from Cannero Riviera's center.

Those looking for the special thrill can experience the unique sensation of flying like a falcon attached to a zipline.
